Outdoor Learning: renovating the pond area
Some children in Ash Class have been renovating the pond area. They cleared the net frames, which took a lot of cutting and clearing. The frames can now be put over the pond in the Autumn to help stop the falling leaves clogging it up again. They have also been in the pond clearing many leaves from the bottom of the pond so the water is now deeper for the wildlife. These leaves will make great compost and also a possible hibernation spot for wildlife so they piled them up by the shed where they can be left to decompose.

The restoration of the pond is an ongoing project but we made great progress last week and cleared lots of gravel and leaves so there is more space for water and the newly divided plants. As you can see, the pond was dried up in places and also very overgrown. Hopefully it will become much more wildlife friendly over the coming months as Y6 children continue to work on it as part of their outdoor learning.
