This term we have been learning about sculpture, focusing on artists inspired by the human form to support our learning about the skeleton in science. During home learning, we started with a general introduction to sculpture; what it is, where it can be seen, artists famous for this type of 3D art and where they take their inspiration from. On our return to school, we enjoyed looking at the work of street artist Keith Haring and created our own fun body poses in the style of Haring, but with a Pop Art twist. Then we turned our attention to Swiss sculptor Alberto Giacometti, famous for his elongated sculptures of the human body. Using pipe cleaners and foil we created our own Giacometti inspired artwork.
