Our big question to investigate this term was "Why does Easter matter to Christians?" As Easter is a Spring festival and often associated with new life and new beginnings, we started our RE day with a Spring inspired walk around the village looking for signs of new life. Sequencing picture cards from the Easter story helped us to draw on our prior knowledge before getting involved in a creative re-telling of the text with puppets and visual props. We used oil pastels to create a visual collage of what Christians believe about the events of Holy Week and spent lots of time enjoying The Big Frieze artwork. This helped us to identify symbols associated with Easter, alongside the context of other stories we have previously explored in both RE and Collective Worship.
