Mummifying Tomatoes In one of the mummification steps, the body was left to rest in Natron salt for 40 days, we wondered why there was a pipe coming out of the salt bath. We removed the tomato's insides and filled it with a combination of salt and bicarbonate of soda and left it to rest. Over the next few days, we noticed that the tomatoes became wrinkly and lots of liquid appeared which explained why the salt baths need a pipe.
